Well, this is the place where most of the magic happens...
The taskbar is usually crowded like that, because I keep opening programs and I forget to close them [which is one of the reasons why I prefer a vertical taskbar instead of the classic horizontal one] ^_^' At the same time, I constantly have around 3 or 4 people I talk with on YM, and an additional 2 or 3 on MSN when I'm signed in ^_^'
